IT’S TIME FOR OUR PERUVIAN SWEETS!

As we close out our Georgia-grown Vidalia® sweet onion season, we are in full swing with our Peruvian sweets. We are currently shipping our Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onions from Peru, and the crop looks great!

Our Peru crop is the same identical variety as our domestic Vidalia. Our agronomy staff has worked tirelessly over many years to cultivate this sweet onion in Peru allowing us to never miss a beat–so we can get the same wonderful sweet onion to our retailers every day of the year.

Don’t miss your chance to stock up on these seasonal gems – they’re movin’ fast!

At this point in the season, and to ensure maximum sweetness, we have moved our harvest into our controlled-atmosphere storage rooms. Bland made fresh preservation technology a priority, and now has the largest controlled-environment storage capacity in the industry. These rooms extend the availability of Vidalia® sweet onions from two months to four months.

Celebrating Georgia Grown on the farm.

On May 15th, Bland Farms was honored to be one of a few selected hosts for the 2019 Georgia Grown Farm Tour. Georgia Grown, the marketing and economic development program of the Georgia Department of Agriculture, hosted international and national media guests, grocery buyer executives, state officials and culinary experts on this first-ever, invitation-only culinary tour of Southern and Coastal Georgia.

We love our Georgia Sweets!

We are projecting to start shipments of our Georgia sweet onions around April 8th. Good weather conditions over the month of March has helped this crop progress and mature nicely. “It couldn’t come at a better time since the overall onion market is strong and in short supplies.” according to Jeff Rhoden.
