Goes Great with
Bland Farms® Premium Sweet Onions and Pear Crisp
Ingredients for the topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 stick butter softened
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Ingredients for the crisp:
- 1 large Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onion
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 stick butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method:
- Preheat grill to medium, high
- Combine all topping ingredients together until the mixture is a fine crumb consistency.
- Slice the Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onion in half. Slice each half into thin slices.
- Melt 1/2 stick butter in a pan.
- Add onions and salt. Cook until golden brown.
- Add pear slices. Cook until onions are caramelized and pears are tender.
- While onions and pears are cooking, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour together until no lumps remain.
- Once pears are tender, add the brown sugar mixture to onions and pears and stir well. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Cover onions and pears evenly with the topping mixture.
- Close lid of grill and cook for 30 minutes or until topping is evenly browned and crisp.
