Balsamic Sweet Onion Burger

Fire up the grill! This Balsamic Sweet Onion Burger combines the savory crunch of caramelized Vidalia onions with the rich tang of balsamic glaze. Perfect for your next cookout.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean 10%)
  • 1 large Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onion, sliced
  • ¼ cup Balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 4 whole grain buns
  • Vidalia Brands Special Blend Seasoning Salt
  • Baby Arugula
  • Mayo

Method

  1. Prep the Grill: Set your Weber Gas Grill to medium heat.
  2. Form Patties: Form 4 ½” patties with the ground beef using a hamburger press. Season patties with Vidalia Brands Special Blend Seasoning Salt and set aside.
  3. Caramelize Onions: On the grill, melt butter in a grill pan. Add onions and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring every few minutes. If they start to burn, lower the heat.
  4. Grill Burgers: Add the burgers to the grill and cook for 5 minutes on each side, or until the meat is cooked all the way through.
  5. Add Cheese & Toast: When there are 2 minutes left, add cheese to the burgers. Add buns to the grill to toast.
  6. Finish the Glaze: Once the onions are soft and golden, add in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and ½ tsp Vidalia Brands Special Blend Seasoning Salt. Cook until the sauce has reduced to a thick syrup (about 3 minutes).
  7. Assemble: Place the patty on a toasted bun, top with balsamic onions, arugula, and mayo. Enjoy!
