Grill Brats with Caramelized Bland Farms® Premium Sweet Onions
Ingredients:
- 6 pretzel buns
- 6 fresh bratwurst sausages
- 2 large Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onions
- 12 oz. bottle of hard apple cider or beer
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- spicy mustard
Method:
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F).
- In a medium saucepan, combine hard cider or beer, beef broth, and bratwursts. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook gently for about 15 minutes.
- While the brats simmer, heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden brown and caramelized. Keep warm.
- Transfer bratwursts to the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and lightly charred, about 8–10 minutes.
- Lightly grill pretzel buns, cut side down, until toasted.
- Serve the bratwursts on the buns topped with caramelized onions and a side of spicy mustard.
