Grill Brats with Caramelized Bland Farms® Premium Sweet Onions

Ingredients:

  • 6 pretzel buns
  • 6 fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 2 large Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onions
  • 12 oz. bottle of hard apple cider or beer
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • spicy mustard

Method:

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine hard cider or beer, beef broth, and bratwursts. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook gently for about 15 minutes.
  3. While the brats simmer, heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden brown and caramelized. Keep warm.
  4. Transfer bratwursts to the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and lightly charred, about 8–10 minutes.
  5. Lightly grill pretzel buns, cut side down, until toasted.
  6. Serve the bratwursts on the buns topped with caramelized onions and a side of spicy mustard.
