Bland Farms Caramelized Premium Sweet Onion & Goat Cheese Tart

Ingredients

  • 4 large Bland Farms Premium Sweet Onion sliced
  • 2 puff pastry sheets cut into 9 pieces each
  • 4 oz Crumbled Goat Cheese
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Fresh Thyme
  • Honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a large baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a medium skillet set over high heat, add the olive oil, butter and the sliced onions.
  3. Cook over high heat until they start to brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low and allow the onions to continue to cook for 15 – 20 minutes or until they become a deep golden color and are very soft, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once desired color is achieved add the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Cut each pastry sheet into 9 equal squares and place on the baking tray.
  7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the whisked egg.
  8. Place a spoonful of the onions in the center of each pastry square.
  9. Top with Goat Cheese and Fresh Thyme.
  10. Bake for around 15 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  11. Remove from oven and drizzle with honey.
  12. Serve immediately.
