In 1982 Delbert Bland and his late father Raymond began growing Vidalia® sweet onions on just five acres at Bland Farms in Glenville, Georgia. Today, Bland Farms is the largest packer of Vidalia® onions annually.

Mexican Sweet Onions
We are now in the middle of Mexican Sweet Onion Season. Quality continues to remain great with many size options available.
Being based in Glennville, GA allows Bland Farms to be at the root of the Vidalia sweet onion industry, and the company currently represents half of the entire Vidalia volume and has the biggest controlled-environment storage capacity in the industry. It’s a long way from its humble beginnings of 50 acres.
GLENNVILLE, GA: It was a joyous and unexpected surprise for Omar Cruz when he was named “Grower of the Year” during the 2018 Vidalia Onion Committee awards banquet on February 10.
We experienced colder than usual weather in early January but closer to normal the last few weeks. According to our Director of Production, Chief Agronomist Omar Cruz, after extensive field evaluations our crop is on full recovery mode and we don’t foresee any issues at this point related to the cold weather event we experienced.
Mexican Sweet Onions
We have started harvesting and will have product available for shipment the week of Feb. 19th. The reports from our agronomist team is that the onions are in great shape with full green tops and good bulb quality. We are expecting an excellent crop with a good range of sizing.
